Joe Coppo
1953 - 2001

This tournament has been named in honor of Joe Coppo, who was a leader in New Canaan’s youth baseball and basketball and who died in the Tuesday, September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York. Joe was born in Baldwin, Long Island in 1953. He and his wife Pat moved to New Canaan with their four children in 1994. Joe served as president of New Canaan Baseball and was one of the founding members of the New Canaan Basketball Association. Our thanks, admiration and love will always be with the Coppo family. This year the Coppo tournament will be held from Friday night December 4 through Sunday late afternoon December 6, 2009.
