About Us

New Canaan Basketball Association

The New Canaan Basketball Association's (NCBA) mission is to create a positive, rewarding and competitive travel basketball experience for boys and girls in grades 3-8 in New Canaan. The NCBA is run by parent-volunteers.

Middle school teams (grades 5-8) compete in the Fairfield County Basketball League (FCBL). During the winter season, teams generally practice 2-3 times per week and have 1-3 games per weekend, excluding holidays. The NCBA collaborates with New Canaan High School's varsity boys and girls basketball coaches to recruit, train, and oversee coaches for all middle school travel teams.

NCBA's pre-travel program is run by Mike Evans and open to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade boys and girls. The program varies by grade, but includes weekly practices and potential scrimmages against teams from surrounding towns. Practices and scrimmages will usually take place in Norwalk or New Canaan.

NCBA Goals:

  • prioritize a positive environment
  • develop basketball fundamentals
  • evolve skills and team concepts
  • focus on teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship
  • win when we can, have fun all the time
